Mothers’ Suite, Sweet Mothers

This suite is incredibly meaningful to me. It was composed by my husband, Thomas Green, in 2021 around the time our two sons, Charlie and Toby, were finishing high school. Their adult lives were about to properly begin and my role as mother was (and still is) changing. It felt very poignant to be creating this beautiful music during such a pivotal time for our family. I recorded and performed this piece with our good friend Camille Barry of the Black Square Quartet, who was at the other end of the parenting journey with her gorgeous Remi just about to start kindergarten.

Mothers’ Suite, Sweet Mothers is a five-movement piece that explores themes of the new beginnings, adventures, mother guilt (it’s real!), and the overwhelming love that comes with being a mother.
